God So Loved
Suffering and pain are some of the hardest realities of life, leading many to ask, Why does God allow this? This week, we begin unpacking this big question by exploring God’s providence, sovereignty, and love in the midst of hardship. John 3:16-18 reminds us that God’s love is undeniable—even in our suffering, we can trust in His goodness. Throughout history, thinkers have wrestled with the problem of evil. Is God willing to prevent suffering but not able? Then He isn’t all-powerful. Is He able but not willing? Then He isn’t good. But Scripture tells us the truth: “No one is good except God alone” (Luke 18:19), and “Our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases” (Psalm 115:3). God is both good and sovereign—He is not the author of evil, but He is in control. And there is hope. Suffering will not last forever. A day is coming when there will be no more tears, no more pain, no more death (Revelation 21:3-5). Jesus came not to condemn the world, but to save it (John 3:17). His love is greater than our suffering, and His grace is greater than our sin. Hold onto hope—God is making all things new!
