Episode 91 - Are You Living for What Lasts?

What Did He Mean by That?

🎙 Episode Title: Are You Living for What Lasts?

📅 Release Date: February 26th, 2026

🎧 Host(s): Dr. Christopher Cali, Pastor Chris Heimerle, Ashley Cali, and Robby Mckinney.

Episode Summary:

This week on the podcast, we unpack a challenging message from John’s Gospel Are we pouring our lives into what is eternal
or just what is temporary? From faith vs. works, to conviction vs. condemnation, to the purpose of Sunday corporate worship, this conversation gets honest about what it really means to believe in Jesus and live like a new creation. It’s not about quitting your job and reading your Bible 24/7. It’s about reordering your heart.

Key Discussion Points:

  • What Does It Mean to Work for What Is Eternal: Jesus calls belief the true work. How does that reframe the way we think about effort in the Christian life?
  • Faith First, Then Works: Why is it dangerous to reverse the order? What happens when works become the entry point instead of the overflow?
  • Conviction vs. Condemnation: How can we tell the difference? Why is conviction a gift rather than something to avoid?

Takeaways:

  1. Sunday is about worship first.
    – Corporate worship is central to the design of the church. Evangelism and growth happen, but worship is the anchor.
  2. Where you invest reveals what you value.
    – Look at your calendar. Look at your habits. That’s where your heart is sowing.
  3. Struggle doesn’t mean you’re fake.
    – Romans 7 reminds us that the battle with sin continues. The presence of the fight is often evidence of life.
