Episode 78 - Bitterness, Distance, and the Heart?

What Did He Mean by That?

🎙 Episode Title: Bitterness, Distance, and the Heart?

📅 Release Date: November 20th, 2025

🎧 Host(s): Pastor Kip Gingrich, Pastor Chris Heimerle, Cara Heimerle, and Robby Mckinney.

Episode Summary:

In this episode, the team sits down with Pastor Kip to unpack his weekend message from 1 Samuel, focusing on the broken relationship between David and Michal. What began as love and loyalty eventually decayed into bitterness, distance, and a hardened heart. Together, the conversation explores how this same slow drift can happen in marriages and friendships and what it looks like to return, rebuild, and recenter our lives on Him.

Key Discussion Points:

  • What distractions pull us away from the people we love?
  • Why is pride dangerous in relationships?
  • How can we avoid expecting others to give us what only God can?

Takeaways:

  1. Bitterness doesn’t appear instantly — it forms slowly over time through neglect, distraction, and drifting priorities.
  2. Distance in a relationship is often spiritual before it’s relational. When God becomes less central, everything else follows.
  3. Unrealistic expectations of people will always disappoint. Only God can provide unfailing love, security, and identity.
