Putting Your Faith First During a New School Year

Putting your faith first during a new school year can be challenging. With changing schedules and shifting responsibilities, it’s normal to feel a bit unsteady during this season of adjustment. But just like growing in faith, building new routines takes patience and consistency.

Building a Spiritual Routine

At the start of the school year, building a spiritual routine is one way to create a strong foundation supporting personal growth and academic success. When life gets busy, it could be easy to push faith to the side, but establishing regular spiritual habits, such as prayer, reading the Bible, and attending church, can provide peace, direction, and strength for the challenges ahead.

To make going to church a habit, try setting a specific time for weekly services, like Sunday morning or a Saturday evening service that fits your schedule. Make it a family event, or go with friends for added accountability. Planning and prioritizing church can help make faith a central part of your week, ensuring that no matter how hectic life gets, your spiritual health remains a priority. Get the most out of your visit by taking notes, singing, and listening closely to the pastor as they help you think through The Word.

Maintaining a Busy Schedule that Includes Jesus

Maintaining a Busy Schedule that Includes Jesus

Maintaining a busy schedule that includes Jesus requires intentional planning and balance. Start by setting aside dedicated time each day for prayer and reflection, even if it’s just a few quiet moments in the morning or before bed.

Prioritize attending church services or Life Groups to stay connected with a faith community, and consider joining a small group to help you stay grounded. The key is to be consistent and make Jesus a part of your everyday activities, not something extra to squeeze in. By doing this, you’ll find strength and peace to manage your responsibilities while deepening your relationship with Christ.

Afterschool Activities at Northside Church

At Northside, our Youth Ministry provides a dynamic space where students can come together and grow in their faith.

As they navigate the new school year, this ministry offers a supportive environment filled with interactive activities like music, games, pizza, and meaningful discussions. It’s a place for students to connect with peers, find community, and explore what it means to follow Jesus, helping them balance both their spiritual and academic journeys. All students in grades 6-12 are welcome to join us every Wednesday night!

We are excited to introduce a new kids program on Thursday nights! Children in pre-K to 5th grade are welcome to join us from 6-7 pm. It’s a place for children to feel loved, come to know Jesus, and grow through fun and life-changing experiences.

Almost every night, our Life Groups offer an opportunity to dive deeper into the essential truths of God’s Word. These groups provide a welcoming and supportive space to grow if you’re new to faith, or just starting to study the Bible. Ask questions, build connections, and strengthen your understanding of Scripture as we walk this path of faith together.
