Made for More Construction Update: Growing Northside Church

Northside Church in Syracuse is going through an expansion to fit more people in their worship center.

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

This is the promise we are holding onto in this season. God is moving, and we believe He is preparing something new right here, in our church, in our community, and in the lives of people who have yet to walk through our doors.

In 1968, a group of believers felt called to plant a church in the northern suburbs of Syracuse. They had a vision to share the gospel, make disciples, and serve the community around them. That step of faith became the beginning of the story of Northside Church.

Through every season, God has been faithful. We’ve seen lives transformed, families strengthened, and generations impacted by the gospel. As we look to the future, we believe He is calling us to make room for what comes next.

Made for More is a church-wide journey to respond to God’s leading with faith, generosity, and purpose. It is about creating space for what God is doing now and for those He is bringing in the future.

Building for the Next Generation

The Made for More campaign continues to grow as we are led by the immense gratitude of our beloved community and the unwavering faith we have in God to guide us in creating a space for generations to enjoy. The focus of this mission to create an environment that enhances the faith of our members and their families as they follow their own journey in following the gospel and upholding faith in Christ. We already have a beautiful church that we love, but we need more space.

Northside Church continues to grow as attendance continues to surpass the capacity of our 700 person worship center, nearing 1,800 people across multiple services every weekend. While many benefit and appreciate the ability to watch our live stream sermons every week, expanded space benefits all. This surplus of devout Christians is a blessing from God as he calls the congregation to make room for deepening relationships and expanding impact.

Made for More centers itself on several key goals:

  • Expand and improve ministry spaces for all members
  • Create more room for connection, hospitality, and community
  • Grow space for Upward Sports to include children and families interested in activities
  • Invite every member of the church family into a journey of deeper trust, generosity, and obedience
Raised since October 2025
$ 10000

Financial Goal: $3.5 million in pledges over 3 years toward a $10 million project.

Phase 1: Growing and Merging our Children’s Ministry – COMPLETED

The first phase of our initiative has been completed with the transformation of once office space into a newly renovated children’s ministry area and nursery. The previous separation of the nursery and the kid’s wing created difficulty for families and volunteers needing to go back and forth. That split is now merged. Families can now find comfort in the quality of classrooms and security that our new addition brings.

The project included new carpeting, fresh paint, updated classroom equipment, and the consolidation of children’s worship into one unified space. The giving done by our generous community members was essential in making this effort possible!

Phase 2: North Entrance Renovation and Expansion

As final approvals with the town settle, Phase 2 of the renovation is targeted to start this fall. Before the final and largest part of the renovation in developing the new worship center can begin, the renovation and expansion of the north entrance and lobby will lead this phase of construction. This reconfiguration will improve guest hospitality, create improved space for gathering, and elevate the experience of visiting and worshipping at Northside Church.

The north entrance will become the primary entrance as future work begins. We ask for patience and faith in our Church and God as we all navigate this time of transformation.

Made For More Phase 2

Phase 3: Final Worship Center Construction

The final phase will be the demolition of the existing office building, which will be replaced with a brand new facility for worship that can seat 1,500 beloved members of our congregation.

God has blessed us with the need to expand as more and more people have found their way to Northside Church. The financial gratitude that has continued to be shown our way in supporting this project does not go unnoticed. Support has been essential in creating a place to worship God, learn about Jesus, know his commands, and serve Him in spirit and in truth. We understand that contributing is not easy for every person. If you’re able to contribute to our mission, we encourage you to invest in the future generations that will utilize this space to encounter and indulge in the life-changing message of Jesus.

Made For More Phase 3

Our Journey Continues

Ultimately, Made for More is a step of faith. It reflects our conviction that God has been writing this story for decades and is continuing to open new doors for ministry. Each phase of this campaign represents a commitment to serving families, welcoming newcomers, and preparing for the generations still to come. Through our shared prayer, generosity, and faith, the church is making room for what God is already doing and trusting Him with what comes next.

We are made for more.
