I'M NEW

We’re so excited that you’re interested in learning more about us. Ignite and Launch are environments where middle school(6th-8th) and high school (9th-12th) students gather to explore their relationship with Christ and connect with others. The Student Ministry facilitates this through large group music and teaching on Thursday nights followed by small group teaching and discussion on Sunday mornings. Please see below to find large group meeting times and small group meeting times. Our FAQs section at the bottom of this page is a great place to get all the ins and outs of our environment.

STUDENT MINISTRY F.A.Q.

Ignite and Launch impact your students through two environments each week. One of these is large group, which is a safe place where students connect with other students and trained adult leaders. Students are challenged to follow Jesus through vibrant worship music and relevant teaching. The goal of large group is to set up meaningful discussions in Life group.

Life groups provide the space for students to explore their faith and make it their own. Ideally led by two adult leaders, each small group includes students of the same gender in the same age range. This gives students an opportunity to develop a group of Christian friends which leads to further encouragement and accountability. Students enjoy getting together outside of church with their Life Group leaders and Life Groups to serve our community, grow spiritually, build relationships and have loads of fun! Our goal is that each Life Group remains connected to a small group from 6th grade all the way through high school graduation.

Our summer camp Diverge is one the most important element of our ministry calendar. Click on “events” at the top of this page for more information.

When you look at the beaming faces in Ignite and Launch, you see far more than middle schoolers and high schoolers. You’ll also see energetic adults who were once in your shoes— wanting to jump in, yet wondering whether they had time or energy to commit to mentoring. They discovered what you will soon recognize: our volunteers aren’t merely here to help. The relationships they form become their ministry and a treasured priority. In fact, Life Group leaders engage with students each week—laughing, listening and leading. We’re delighted you want to become part of the reason that students love their church! For more information, click here.

Becoming a Life Group leader is a fun and exciting way to stay engaged with our students. We absolutely encourage parents to become Life Group leaders—and, we need you—but, we do not permit parents to lead their own children during Ignite and Launch. Some students need more space than others and are far more candid in Life Group discussions when parents are not present. We’ll help find the best fit for you, as well as the right place to maximize your student’s experience in Ignite and Launch.

We’re glad you asked! There are lots of ways to participate in the fun as you experience your own spiritual growth through serving. You can start by asking your student’s Life Group leader how you can support him or her. Offer to provide transportation to an outing, host a gathering, or provide a snack for Sunday morning Life Group. You could also send an encouraging note. Any time you can provide the leaders an opportunity to just hang out with their students, ministry is happening. If you want to do more, consider becoming a Life Group leader or joining our guest services team. For more information, click here.

Life Group leaders volunteer to participate and then go through an interview/approval process (which includes a background check) before being selected to lead students. Our leaders participate in ongoing training. Students are permitted to attend either hour of Life Group (9:30 or 11:00), as long as they are in their age and gender specific group. See above for more details on Life Groups.

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. Ignite and Launch is designed to be fun and relevant for every student. We’re thrilled when your student is excited to share what he or she is experiencing in church. Middle school and high school is a critical time when relationships can begin to get messy and emotionally challenging. Developing spiritual strength now will influence critical choices in the future.

The healthiest way to do life is with others. That’s why we have Ignite and Launch Life Groups! Life Groups combine the power of doing life together with a small group of same gender and age students with a committed adult leader. If you’re interested in a group, you have two options. One, just show up! Group leaders are ready and excited for new comers and will welcome you with open arms! Two, you can fill out this form and a group leader will be expecting you!

Thanks for your interest in serving with the Student Ministry! Here are our current opportunities for service:

Life Group Leader

Each Life Group leader plays a key role in shaping the spiritual and social bonds that connect Life Group students. Ideally, two adult small group leaders connect with 7-10 students per group to build trusted relationships and celebrate spiritual growth. The Life Group experience is the cornerstone of student ministry.

Guest Services

Have you ever walked into an environment where you didn’t know anyone and felt eager but just a little lost? Guest services members are excited and challenged to make every first impression of Ignite and Launch a welcoming one. They greet each new student and family, guiding them through registration and easing the student into the thrill of large group worship.

In addition, other opportunities such as serving food in our cafe, assisting with audio/video, helping set up and tear down, help create an irresistible environment.
