Music is something we hold very dear at Northside. In keeping with our church’s purpose statement of “Loving God, Loving People and Loving to Serve,” our Worship Ministries are seeking to help people connect to God by fostering an uplifting atmosphere of worship for all who attend. Supplying times to connect with other like-minded people and providing opportunities to use musical skills and abilities to serve our Lord round out the mission we hope to carry out.
Each Sunday morning service begins with a time of worship. Our worship style is primarily contemporary, although we do love and often use the hymns of the faith. Don't be concerned if you don't know the words. They are provided by video projection on two large screens. Feel free to come and join us as we praise Him in song!
God has blessed us over the years with talented individuals who love the Lord and His music. We make use of many vocalists and instrumentalists in our Worship Team, which consists of a Vocal Team, an Instrumental Team, the Worship Choir and Audio/Visual Team. A description of each of these groups follows. An orchestra is organized for seasonal musicals to further allow those with instrumental gifts an opportunity to use them.
Worship Choir
If you love to sing His praises, then the Northside Worship Choir has a place for you. No audition is required, however, you must have an ability to hold a vocal part. Our Worship Choir ministers at both the 9:30 and 11:00 services. Some people may choose to join us for special celebrations at Easter, Christmas or for other events throughout the year. We often travel to local area malls, other churches and community events to share the music God has given us. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 6:45-8:15 PM and/or Sundays from 5:00-6:00 PM. New members are always welcome to join with us.
Vocal Team
This is an auditioned group from the Worship Choir that sings on a weekly basis in our worship services. Try-outs for this team are at different times during the year. Please speak with Pastor Allan Covington, Associate Pastor for Worship and the Arts, if you are interested in auditioning for this team.
Instrumental Team
This group of musicians uses their gifts in our Worship services each week. We are always looking for other talented instrumentalists who would like to try out for the team. Improvisational skills are necessary for participation. If you would like more information, please talk with Pastor Allan.
A.C.C.E.S.S. Worship Team
This team of vocalists and instrumentalists lead worship for a venue worship service geared to High School and College age students. They meet once a month in the gym. Group members are eligible by audition, and musicians interested in using their gifts are always welcomed. For more information, you can talk with Pastor Chuck Klinger.
Youth Praise & Worship Team
God has gifted a number of our teens with musical ability, and they love to use their talents to praise Him. The Youth Praise Team leads the worship time at Resonate on Thursday nights and periodically leads worship on Sunday morning.
Youth Choir
Students in grades 7 – 12, who love the Lord and desire to praise Him in song, are encouraged to join our Youth Choir. This choir, under the direction of Rebecca Warnken, practices on Thursdays at 5:45 pm, prior to Resonate. We look forward to seeing you there!
Children’s Choir
We love to hear our children sing. This choir meets in the fall and spring with children in 1st – 6th grades. Under the direction of Patty Sensinger, this group typically presents a Christmas musical in the fall and another musical in the spring. They meet on Sunday evenings.
